After a 15-year split, the famous Britpop band Oasis, headed by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, announced their reunion and subsequent tour on social media in August 2024. During their 2025 reunion tour, they’ve performed in cities such as London, Dublin, Chicago, and even the borough of East Rutherford, New Jersey.
“[It was] truly an experience unlike any other,” said junior Brody Campagna, who attended the concert at MetLife stadium. “Watching the Gallagher brothers in their element for the first time in 15 years was an utter spectacle.”
The band performed a loaded setlist, starting off with hits like “Acquiesce” and “Morning Glory,” and ended with their heaviest hitters, “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova.”
“They sounded fantastic even from the nosebleeds,” said Campagna.
Around 60,000 fans expressed their love for these songs by singing along, tossing their drinks in the air, and celebrating with the “Poznań” – a celebration popular with the Manchester City soccer team, who the Gallagher brothers are fans of.
For most younger fans, like Campagna, it was not only a spectacle, but also the first time seeing the band live. Oasis’ last concert before the reunion tour was back in 2009, when most teens new to their music were barely able to walk.
Older, everlasting fans were clearly delighted as well.
“I’d say about 65% of the crowd were older,” said Campagna, mainly “a demographic of men who feel like they can relate to Liam Gallagher, and don’t have any other avenues to express their feelings than to belt out the words to their favorite songs.”
This sentiment is proven by one of the band’s most popular singles, “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” which technically doesn’t have a defined meaning. That’s the beauty of it for listeners: the meaning is what they make of it. They can put any emotion they’d like into their personal interpretation.
Most of their songs fall under the genre of “Britpop,” a British alternative rock movement that sparked a rivalry between Oasis and Blur, another popular in the ‘90s. Fans saw Oasis as the victor; however, this win would be overshadowed by the release of a mediocre third album and the titanic break-up of the band.
Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher were the source of the feud, battling each other behind the scenes and eventually causing the 15-year hiatus. Their reunion last year, though, proved that brothers, no matter how against each other they are, can always come back together.
“Britpop” is not only a genre of music, but also a fashion style the band helped to create. Characterized by Adidas clothing, bucket hats, and sunglasses, the style gained prominence as Oasis rose to stardom. British and American fans alike flocked the stadiums in such streetwear.
“You can take ten dudes off of the streets of London and if they have an Adidas logo somewhere on them, there’s a good chance of them saying it’s because of Liam Gallagher,” said Campagna.
Oasis is still set to perform in Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. After their last show, the band’s future is uncertain, with new music doubtful.
Fans couldn’t be more happy, though. They finally got to see Oasis one last time, after 15 years of nothing, with the Gallaghers back on stage together. They’ve influenced fashion and music, and inspired brotherly love amongst even the most bitter rivals. Oasis has seen it all, and has truly earned a rest after such a powerful resurrection.
