Officer Christopher Litz, Southern Lehigh High School’s new School Resource Officer, is ready and excited to make the halls of our school safer. Additionally, Officer Litz is eager to help create a positive school environment while getting to know students and staff.

While Officer Litz has only been our SRO for a little over a month, he knows the high school well. As a Southern Lehigh graduate, he is very familiar with the district.

“I know how it feels to be walking in your shoes in this building,” Officer Litz said.

During his time as a Spartan, he was a captain of the football team and a member of the wrestling team.

After graduation, he studied criminal justice at Widener University, where he also played football for two years. After Widener, Officer Litz attended the Allentown Police Academy in 2007. In 2008, he joined the Catasauqua Police force for nine years. Before returning to the halls of Southern Lehigh, he worked for the Upper Saucon Township Police Department beginning in 2017.

After playing sports his whole life, Officer Litz wanted a career that required teamwork and gave him the sense of community amongst him and his peers. He decided to pursue a career in law enforcement because of the excitement of the job.

“It is a dynamic job where each day is different,” he said. “No two calls are alike and one does not know what will happen on a given day.”

Officer Litz wants students to know that he is very easy-going and laid back. He enjoys playing and watching football, he is an Eagles and Phillies fan, and he enjoys any outdoor activities. Most importantly, he wants students to know that they are able to talk to him, whether it’s about something as light as a recent sports game, or something more difficult like troubles in school.

“I’m here to build relationships with students and staff, so that everyone can feel safe around the school,” he said. “I want people to feel comfortable coming to me with any issues or problems going on in or out of the school.”
