This fall, The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley are undergoing many changes: including the name itself, color scheme, and primarily: the Promenade directory. A few new restaurants have been introduced, including Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. A new retail shop, Rally House, has already undergone its opening, and Pandora is relocating to a new location within the Promenade.
When given a list of these new additions, freshman Alexa Lui expresses interest in the new, easy, grab-and-go meal opportunities at the Promenade.
“Personally, I would most likely visit Five Guys out of all the newly introduced shops,” Lui says, in comparison to the rest of the sit-down restaurant options.
This new fast food restaurant was predicted to open in August, but instead opened this month, on October 5th. Located in between The European Wax Center and UBreakIFix, Five Guys Burgers and Fries offers a variety of the typical “fast food” choices, along with full meals. This is a departure from the typical type of restaurant in the Promenade, as many only offered sit-down meals—which were more expensive and time consuming for customers. As such, this alternative will likely be more accessible for various demographics.
On the retail end of the directory, the recently opened Rally House has already received positive recognition from Southern Lehigh students.
Junior Natalie Pristas says, “The new Rally House is really cool because the closest location is so far away.”
The Rally House, found between J.Crew and Barnes & Noble, offers officially licensed team gear such as jerseys, hats, drinkware, home decor, collectibles, and local gifts.
Pristas also appreciates the newly-shifted restaurant-to shop proportion,, and is avidly requesting more clothing shops to match the higher number of restaurants.
Another one of the three new restaurants is Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls, a chain operating all across the United States. Located on the left side of Slime Time, this sit-down lunch and dinner restaurant offers authentic lobster rolls, and praises themselves for their “simple, never complex, meals.” Although Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls was predicted to open in the late summer-time, construction is still underway, yet expected to wrap up soon.
Another restaurant, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, is said to be “culturally diverse” and one spot that Sophomore Sama Al-Alim is delighted about.
“I’m excited for all the shops, but mostly the Greek place because it’s different from the rest,” Al-Alim says.
This new restaurant offers a variety of authentic Greek food, and is located between Lashes by Gab and Komé Fine Japanese Cuisine. Their menu includes a large selection from nutritious salads to filling Souvlaki.
The last major update occurring at the Shops is the relocation of Pandora. Pandora moved from its previous location to a new spot on Friday, October 11th. Now,Pandora occupies a shop between Altar’d State and Sleep Number, a space double the size of their initial location.
With the new location, Pandora has adapted a new, innovative layout, including a center island surrounded by wall fixtures that will display Pandora’s designs. Pandora has also introduced an engraving machine to this location, offering customization opportunities.
