Mike Stud: The New Face of Hip Hop
Mike Stud, an up and coming rapper out of Rhode Island, has swept people off their feet with his music and instantly turning them into fans. He is changing the rap game for the better with the determination he puts into his work.
During high school, Stud was recognized as one of the best baseball players in the state of Rhode Island and committed to play baseball at Duke University. Unfortunately, after suffering from a long term injury, he was forced to have Tommy John surgery, in which a ligament in the elbow was replaced with a tendon from somewhere else in the body.
While rehabilitating, Mike Stud had to find something to do to pass time since he couldn’t play ball. He decided to record a song on his computer as a joke and upload it to Youtube. It turned out to be no joke when the video gained popularity and jump-started his music career.
Stud released a rookie mixtape in October of 2012, and fans immediately began swarming to the rapper’s witty verses and great rhythmical flow. He continued to release music, gaining popularity with his “Sunday Stud Day” remixes, and went on a 20-city tour. Fans waited in anticipation for Mike Stud to release the first album of his career. Critics have compared him to a wannabe Drake.
His first album “Relief” was no disappointment to Mike Stud fans, as it debuted on iTunes as number one on the hip-hop charts and number two on the overall charts. Critics were silenced by Mike Stud’s ability to be diverse in the music that he writes.
The album leads off with a song entitled “Thank You,” dedicated to his fans to let them know how much they have helped him get to the point in his career that he is at now. From a fan’s view, it’s amazing how he stays in touch with his fanbase even though it has grown so rapidly.
One of the best songs in the album is “Batter Up.” With its catchy tune, this song is sure to be a homerun. He uses baseball, the game that he loves, to connect with his large fanbase of baseball players.
The most meaningful song on the album is hands down “Past Gone,” about a girl Stud met at a show outside of Philly who told him that his lyrics saved her life. The chorus of “Past Gone” really shows the message of the entire song:
“So when you feel alone in the night time, just know that you ain’t ever on your own. ‘Cause everybody goes through the lows, and I just want you to know. Just know that I believe in you, like you believe in me.”
Overall, this album is perfect. There is nothing else Mike Stud could have put out that would have been better. His fans can expect continued success and will continue to appreciate of all the hard work he does to produce his lovable music.
Mike Stud is changing the rap game for the better. He is forcing other rappers to try to get on his level while simultaneously staying in touch with the meanings of his songs. Keep an eye out for future projects, as they will definitely not disappoint.
