Mr. Tracy is excited to join the special education staff to help inspire students daily.

“You win some you lose some” is a common saying, and this fall Southern Lehigh students returned to find they lost a number of teachers to career changes, but they also gained many new enthusiastic teachers in their place. One of those new faces is Mr. Eric Tracy who joins the faculty as a special education teacher.

Coming to Southern Lehigh from the Allentown Learning and Achievement School, Mr. Tracy provides support to students who might need a little push to help them reach their goals.

“I’ve always enjoyed helping people,” he said. “I think going back to the Special Olympics and watching that unfold really led me into special education as a whole.”

Special education can be a challenging field, but for Mr. Tracy it is something he wouldn’t give up for the world. He loves to see the growth in student learning, starting at the ground level and working up in a manner that is best for them and their learning styles. Watching their eyes light up when they get something right or seeing the progress in their efforts is encouraging to both the teacher and the student.

Mr. Tracy hopes that he can make a difference in the lives of students, and this drives him to wake up everyday and make a change.
