Let’s be honest. No one’s thrilled to walk down the hallway and be surrounded by students “sucking face.” Sure you may “love” your boyfriend or girlfriend but do you really need to show it off for four minutes between classes? I’m trying to hold down my lunch, and you’re not helping.
I’m not saying if you’re in a relationship, all you can do is hold hands, but you have to know a limit. Numerous times I’ve gone to grab a bagel from the cafeteria in the morning and there’s a couple SITTING ON EACH OTHER, and eating each other’s faces off. It makes me, as well as everyone else who can hear the sucking of their lips, uncomfortable.
For some reason, our school’s intersection is a go-to for couples. I don’t get what’s so romantic about it. It’s crowded, noisy, and people get far too pushy when crossing through. Standing there, holding one another, and whispering pointless nonsense is not helping the crowd. Please, find somewhere else to give your three-minute goodbyes.
On another note, standing in front of a locker or snuggling into a corner to get cozy is also not okay. You are irritating people who are trying to get their supplies and walk to class in peace.
Believe me, I’ve been in a relationship and done all this and more, but from the outside looking in, it’s annoying. It’s great you’re happy and smitten with each other, but school rules state only hugs and hand-holding. Let’s be honest: the chances that you’ll last with your high school sweetheart is horribly low, so do you really want to look back on your high school years and be remembered as the girl who couldn’t get off her guy? I know I wouldn’t.
So come on kids; calm it down, and get off each other please.
