The September release of the iPhone 5 has people all over the world buzzing about the newest Apple creation.
Let’s start with the basics. The iPhone 5 has an all new design. It is the thinnest and lightest of all the iPhones, with a depth of 7.6 millimeters, a weight of 112 grams, and a volume of 3.31 inches. The iPhone 5 is now 18% thinner, 20% lighter, and 12% less volume than the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 has a four-inch retina display, which is noticeably larger than the retina display of the iPhone 4S.
The look of the iPhone 5 differs from the look of any other iPhone too. It has the same rectangular shape as the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, but instead of being glassy all around, the back of the iPhone 5 is now matte. On the black iPhone 5, the sides are not silver anymore, but they are black to match the base color of the phone, giving it a sleeker look.
“It looks so sleek, especially the black, and the matte is awesome,” Rebekah Grandfield, a hopeful consumer, said.
The iPhone 5 also comes with a new headphone design and a new charger design. The headphone jack is now at the bottom of the phone. The new, smaller Lightning charger is reversible, so there is no wrong way to charge your phone. Other features include a longer battery life and the A6 processor chip, which makes the phone faster.
Senior Marie Louise Matsinger recently purchased an iPhone 5.
“I think it’s really cool because the screen is bigger, so you can see more,” she said, “and the back is matte, so it won’t break or crack as easily.”
