Remembering 9/11

September 11th is a day that all Americans remember the tragedy that struck exactly twelve years ago. This morning, junior Brycen Holland conducted a moment of silence during the morning announcements, and along with SL’s Young American’s for Freedom Club has put together a memorial to honor the innocent lives lost on 9/11, and those who have fought and are currently fighting the war on Terror. 2,977 flags were placed on Preston Lane this morning representing each person lost in the terror attacks. As you go about your daily routines today, take a moment to reflect on the events of 9/11.

Abby Muth was a Spotlight staff member for twoyears. Throughout this time Abby has been a staff reporter and the website manager. Besides participating in the newspaper, she has also involved her time in the high school’s fall plays and spring musicals.

Outside of school, Abby likes to hang out with her friends and enjoy nice weather. When she is not spending time with friends, she likes to read and watch movies.

During her time at Southern Lehigh, Abby has learned that even though high school is not always fun or enjoyable, it holds some of your best memories. She has learned not to take anything for granted, because “when it’s May, and you’re a senior and you only have seven days of high school left, you realize that everything you remember about your four years here is over, and all you have left are the memories.”

Abby is planning to attend the Tyler School of Art for Graphic Design at Temple University. In the future she hopesto find a job to support herself. Besides that, Abby mostly just wants to enjoy life and be happy no matter what she decides to do.

Her advice is to not “take things too seriously. Have fun. Do what makes you happy. Keep your friends close and don’t do anything to screw up your relationships with them because

they will be there for you no matter what.”
