One of the many problems people run into when they are cleaning their rooms is that there is simply just too much stuff laying around. Mostly junk too.
Instead of throwing it all away, put aside a few items that could be useful for some type of craft. Re-decorating your desk chair is a great weekend project. Idea: DIY re-decorate your desk chair.
If you have extra newspapers or magazines lying around the house, and enjoy putting your artistic abilities to work, this is a perfect do-it-yourself project for you to work on.
Supplies: jar of modpodge (or other clear-drying glue type substance, although modpodge works the best), a paintbrush or two, newspapers and/or magazines, and of course, the chair you will be working on!
Step one: Find a spot where you want to work and set up all of your supplies.
Step two: Rip a bunch of strands/pieces of magazine or newspaper pages. Set aside. Tip: don’t make the strands too big, or it will be harder to glue them on.
Step three: Dip the paintbrush into the modpodge and paint a small section of the chair where you want to begin.
Step four: Now take a strip of paper and paint the modpodge on one of the sides.
Step five: Attach the strip of paper to the part of the chair that already has the modpodge on it. Once it’s flattened all the way down without any air bubbles, apply another coat of modpodge on top.
Repeat steps three to five until your chair is completely covered. Let the chair dry for about 24-48 hours.
Now you have a cool new accent to add to your room!
