With the addition of the new laptops, one of this year’s changes is the addition of the “Tech Hub.” But what exactly do the people in the buzzing Tech Hub do?
The regular day in the Tech Hub begins at eight in the morning, when the tech support arrives at the school. There are four people who staff the tech hub, and they often rotate between two shifts, so they aren’t there all day.
Students come to the Tech Hub for many different reasons. Many students will come when they are locked out of their homeroom and need to return their laptop before the end of the day. Others will come if they participate in the Emerging Health program or are enrolled in LCTI to pick up or drop off their laptops.
Besides laptop pick up and drop off, the Tech Hub also takes care of any issues with laptops that aren’t working properly because of lost network connection. They also take care of laptops with broken screens or pieces as a result of being dropped.
Even with the addition of new laptops, the jobs of these men haven’t changed much. They still take care of the simple computer issues like they did before when the school had the laptop carts.
“One thing that did change was, we do get to have more interaction with the students now,” Mr. Josh Ludwig, systems technician, said.
Students feel that the Tech Hub makes it easier and quicker to solve computer issues now that the assistance is readily available.
“I think the Tech Hub is really helpful; it makes it easy get help with the laptops” sophomore Emily Kasarda said.
