“City of Bones,” written by Cassandra Clare, tells the story of Clary Fray. Clary finds herself in a world of shadowhunters, and warriors ridding the world of demons, after witnessing what she takes to be a murder by three teenagers who no one else can see.
Clary meets Jace Wayland, Isabelle, and Alec Lightwood, three teenage shadowhunters who are equally surprised to find that she can see them, despite the fact that they are supposed to be invisible to normal people.
After her mother disappears, Clary begins to discover the truth about her past. She finds herself a part of a world she never knew existed filled with shadowhunters, demons, vampires, werewolves, warlocks, and faeries. She discovers the secrets that her mother kept from her and is pulled into a greater plot.
“I’ve never read anything quite like it. It’s the perfect mix of romance, action, and drama,” freshman Lucy Zhang said.
People who have read the book agree that all of the characters add a great importance to the book, and make it even more exciting.
“I liked Jace because he was sassy and a smart alec, but he knew what he was doing,” freshman Naomi Li said.
“It caught my attention from the beginning…the witty comments and imaginative scenes led to the overall spectacular nature of this novel,” freshman Fiona Bultonsheen said.
