One of Southern Lehigh High School’s science teachers, Mr. James Walker, is wrapping up his 22-year career and leaving for retirement at the end of the school year.
Mr. Walker has taught a plethora of classes ranging from Honors Physics, to Physics I and Physics II.
Mrs. Searfoss, biology teacher, had Mr. Walker as a teacher when she high school at Southern Lehigh.
“I remember getting my picture taken by Mr. Walker on my first day with him,” Mrs. Searfoss said.
Mr. Walker is known for his unique teaching styles in the physics classroom. Students enjoyed his activities, labs, and humorous personality, and that’s what they’ll miss most.
Mr. Walker says he chose to retire this year because his heart just isn’t in the job anymore, and now he’s ready to pursue other passions.
“After retirement, I am doing whatever I want,” he said. “I like art, so I’ll paint and draw.”
Mr. Walker wants the students to remember him by his caring, concerned, compassionate, and enthusiastic personality. He will miss the interaction with students and the “aha” moments (when the student’s “light bulbs” come on) in class.
Mr. Walker truly has made Southern Lehigh a better place, and that’s why students look up to him.
“I will miss Mr. Walker so much,” sophomore student Hannah Mengel said, “No day will ever be the same without him!”
