On Friday, May 17th, after a morning of classes, students spent the afternoon celebrating the fast-approaching end to the school year at the annual carnival.
School clubs sponsored the activity booths, which featured everything from face painting to balloon popping. In addition, Student Council rented two inflatable obstacle courses. For students looking to stay out of the sun, there were inside games of dodgeball and Spartan Feud.
The most popular carnival activity, evident by the constant long line, was the free ice cream from Inside Scoop.
In addition, the yearbook staff proudly unveiled the 2012-2013 yearbook, “This is SLHS in Black and White”. Mrs. Stephanie Lynn, first-year adviser and long-term substitute for Mrs. Jessica Gordon, is pleased with the product.
“Visually, it’s very dynamic,” Mrs. Lynn said, “the theme’s really neat with the color pops and black and white text.”
Junior Sarah Steirer, Editor-in-Chief, is also pleased with the results of the year’s work. She and the rest of the staff have spent months working to perfect the yearbook for the student body to enjoy.
“It feels really good,” Steirer said. “It’s cool seeing everything together in the same place and finally being able to physically look at it rather than just looking at it on the computer.”
