Many students at Southern Lehigh play a sport or take part in some activity, but what happens when the house clears out and the stands are left empty? What do the players do to after the games?
After every fall Friday night football game, the Spartan football players, coaches, and parents eat at Starters Pub to celebrate a win or forget a loss.
The boys basketball team doesn’t have a set postgame agenda, but they have their small get togethers every now and again.
“We just go home and drown our sorrows in our losses, and celebrate our hard earned victories, which is usually just a few guys either hanging out at somebody’s house or grabbing a bite to eat after a [basketball] game,” senior Kyle Durics said. ”We put the game behind us after the night and prepare for the next game.”
The Spartan swimmers also have a tradition after each meet.
“After swim meets some of the team gets together and and hangs out at each other’s houses,” senior Michael Anderson said. “We occasionally have sleepovers if we’re too beat to go home.”
Baseball games start at four and end around seven, so most players don’t go out afterwards due to the time and the evening approaching. Most players use their time to kick back and relax.
”First I sign autographs,” senior Pat Rhodes said, “then I go home take a nice bubble bath light a few candles and reflect on my performance.”
Whether it’s hanging out with a few teammates or taking a bath to reflect on one’s performance, most players have their own post game rituals that get them past that night’s game and in the mindset they need to start preparing for the next big game.
