Angels of Southern Lehigh
On May 17, the Southern Lehigh baseball team traveled to Schnecksville, PA, to participate in Miracle League, a league where disabled kids play baseball. Many teams participate as “angels” to help the kids play baseball and most importantly have fun. They have different leagues for different ages and everybody gets involved.
“It is a great experience, and I had a lot of fun,” freshman Marco Spinosa said. “ It was great to see how many kids come out and have a good time.”
In the game, the Miracle League kids all get to hit and have a good time in the field with their angels, the players that the kids pick to be with them for the game. They protect their players when in the field and help them when on the base paths.
“My favorite part of Miracle League is seeing their smiles when you make them feel that they have a friend on their side,” senior Chase Asman said. “It is my favorite part of the season because we get to see how lucky we are and how grateful we should be.”
“It was a lot of fun to hang with the kids,” freshman Zach Mohr said, “and many of the kids parents like seeing the kids play the game.”
The Southern Lehigh Spartan baseball team has been a part of Miracle League for seven years, and will continue to participate in the future.
