Cody Heffelfinger, Sports Editor
Cody Heffelfinger was a four-year member of the Spotlight staff. He became the assistant sports editor midway through his freshman year and as a sophomore stepped up to claim the sports editor role, a position he has held for three years.
Cody’s four years at SLHS have been outstanding not only academically but also athletically. He earned three varsity letters for football and two letters for basketball. Cody is also involved in Student Council and Teen Counseling.
“My advice to underclassmen is don’t procrastinate,” he said, “and take your grades seriously all throughout high school.”
Among many favorites, two things stood out to Cody the most. A favorite moment was when every student got a laptop. And he said his favorite teacher is “Mrs. Spritzer, of course!”
Cody’s favorite journalism memories include time spent after 3:00 p.m. in the pub lab. What will he miss most? That would be seeing his friends every day.
While school, football, basketball, and and the Spotlight will be left behind after graduation, Cody will still have two of the things he loves the most: music and fishing.
In the fall, Cody will attend West Virginia University where he plans to major in journalism.
