With the Spirit Club’s loss of recent graduate Kyle Brown, the 2012 homecoming pep rally was in need of an enthusiastic and comedic co-host to team up with veteran co-host Austin Rivera, and senior Ryan McGinty filled the position.
“It was difficult to find someone who is willing to dedicate their time, to find someone who can lead the student body, and possess the ethical values of positive school spirit and respect towards the students,” Mr. David Dougherty, the advisor of the Spartan Spirit Club, said.
“A good co-host must be loud, funny, personable, and they can’t be afraid to embarrass themselves,” senior co-host Austin Rivera said.
Finding the right person to do the job was not an easy task, but Ryan met every characteristic of a good pep rally co-host, and he took the place with honor.
“I didn’t really do anything to get the job of co-host,” Ryan McGinty said, “They just picked me.”
The biggest challenge for Ryan was working with the staff of the Spartan Spirit Club to put together a successful pep rally.
The roaring applause that echoed through the gym during the pep rally proved that Ryan had lived up to the student body’s expectations for a great co-host.
