Despite the obvious presence of the student section at fall football games, student section was non-existent during the basketball season. It seems as though the Big Blue Wrecking Crew is no longer as large or loud as it used to be.
Not all students ignore the basketball games; it’s just not as big and as wild as it was in past years.
“The students think the team isn’t really good anymore ever since Corey Schmidt left,” senior Josh Gildea said, “and they don’t understand the awesomeness that is basketball.”
As Coach Bob Shaffer’s last season, a larger student section turnout was expected. The student section has not lived up to expectations, despite the team’s huge success this season.
“I think there should be a student section for the games because it keeps the energy in the gym and keeps us pumped up throughout the entire game,” senior captain Connor Zellner said.
“If there was a student section as large as “Country Night” at every game,” senior Austin Rivera said, “then I would go to almost every game.”
