Do you have a tetris obsession? The students of Southern Lehigh High School are suffering addiction to the classic arcade game, Tetris. Many students are enjoying the 1:1 laptop initiative that began at the beginning of the year, but the level of distraction and game-playing in class has increased as the year goes on.
Tetris has been an issue for teachers since the beginning of the year.
“They often come into class and start or continue playing until I make them close their lids,” social studies teacher Jennifer Wlodek said. “They feel that any chance of transition in class or a moment of downtime should be used to play.”
Tetris is a simple, quick, and addicting game. When looking for a fun way to distract themselves, students find that Tetris is the perfect remedy.
“I think the school is actually training us to play tetris,” sophomore David Kroll said. “At the beginning of the year, the school gives us laptops to carry around to every class and unblocks every game site. Now, halfway through the year, every site gets blocked EXCEPT Tetris.”
Tetris is a classic arcade game that reels you in from the first time you play it. But remember, there is always a time and place for when you should be playing computer games in class and when you should not.
