Lights in the Parkway – Allentown, PA
A local holiday tradition celebrating it’s 20th year, Lights in the Parkway transforms the Lehigh Parkway into a mile-long dazzling holiday light spectacular. Lights in the Parkway features multiple animated light displays and christmas music, all from the convenience of your car. At the end of the display, a gift barn sells holiday crafts and treats. Hours are 5:30 to 10pm Wednesday through Saturday throughout December except on Christmas day. Admission is $12 per car.
Lehigh Valley Zoo’s Winter Light Spectacular – Schnecksville, PA
A fairly new addition to the Lehigh Valley’s local holiday traditions, Lehigh Valley Zoo transforms into a walk-through “winter wonderland” of nearly one million lights. You can enjoy eight themed holiday displays, various photo op scenes, pet live reindeer, cozy up at a fire pit, or enjoy a snack at a treat station such as s’mores and hot chocolate. It is the perfect holiday family outing! Hours are 5:30 – 10:00 Wednesday through Sunday all through December, except Christmas and Christmas Eve. Tickets are $11 Wednesday, $12 Thursday, and $14 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Christkindlmarkt – Bethlehem, PA
Christkindlmarkt, inspired by traditional German markets, is a holiday market in none other than the “Christmas City” itself – Bethlehem. Inside, you can find holiday vendors, unique gifts, and authentic German cuisine. Other exciting experiences include live musical entertainment, glassblowing ornament demonstrations, and ice sculpting. Not to mention Christkindlmarkt is located in the heart of Bethlehem’s original steel company, where you can walk along the old steel stacks using the brand new Hoover-Mason Trestle. Hours are 11 am to 6 pm Thursdays and Sundays, and Fridays and Saturdays are 11 am to 8 pm. Tickets are $9 per person.
Downtown Bethlehem – Bethlehem, PA
There’s much more holiday spirit to be found in Bethlehem other than just Christkindlmarkt. Celebrate Christmas all month long with christmas decorations, carriage rides, Christmas-themed walking tours, and a live advent calendar hosted every day by a local Bethlehem business. Year-round shops and eateries are also open, so you can grab that perfect gift for a special someone or enjoy something delicious to eat!
Fonthill Castle – Doylestown, PA
Did you know that Pennsylvania has it’s very own castle? Created and built by tile maker Henry Chapman Mercer, Fonthill Castle is a beautiful, yet hidden treasure nestled in Doylestown. Decorated for the holidays with Christmas trees, classic victorian decorations, and greens, it’s the perfect time take a tour of this historical building. Reservations are required, and can be requested between December 2nd to January 2nd. Tickets are $14 for adults, and $12 for youth (6-17).
“Pip – The Mouse Before Christmas” Puppet Show – Allentown, PA
Treat the younger members of your family to an extra special holiday treat this season – a fun filled puppet show for the whole family! “The Mouse Before Christmas” began as a puppet show in Allentown’s Hess’s Department Store, telling the story of Pip the mouse as he gears up for the arrival of Santa Claus. The tradition continues today in The Liberty Bell Museum with daily performances from now until January 2nd. Shows are 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 Monday through Saturday. Tickets are $1 for children and $2 for adults.
